Marla Hamlin, Missouri
I had my bilateral lung transplant on 8/1/2011 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Because of never having children, I had no antibodies, was CMV negative & received CMV negative lungs from a 60 year old man. I was 55 at the time. Do the math.
I had been on oxygen for 12 years going from 2 liters pulse dose to 15 liters the last 2 1/2 years while waiting. Always exercising!
Have been mentoring at Barnes for 12 years which I love. I have been blessed with my lungs as the only time I was in the hospital was in 2022 when I had Covid.
Reading, participating in church, networking, serving others & just being with people are things I love. I have been able to fly all over the country since my transplant. Life is so good! I look forward to walking the Lung Transplant Journey with you.
