With your support, The LAM Foundation continues to grow and be both a champion and innovator for LAM patients and their families. 2017 was once again a busy year at The LAM Foundation, as we continue to accelerate research and to improve patient care. A few of our accomplishments this year include:
- Patient Support: 188 new LAM patients registered with The LAM Foundation; the online community grew to 560 members; LAM Liaisons hosted 25 regional educational meetings in partnership with 16 LAM Clinics, reaching 400 attendees; LAM patients and families called on 50 members of Congress on the first LAM Day on Capitol Hill; 16 patients provided testimony to the FDA during the TSC/LAM Patient-Focused Drug Development Meeting.
- Research: Facilitated the award of $550,000 in LAM research grants via the LAM Foundation Grant Program and UPenn’s Orphan Disease Center; the MILED and MIDAS trials continue to enroll; the Foundation played a key role in helping women with LAM donate tissue directly to LAM scientists.
- Clinical Care: ATS/JRS LAM Guidelines were distributed to emergency room, OB/GYN and pulmonary specialists at educational conferences; Iowa City, Iowa and Paris, France were designated as new LAM Clinics; the Foundation visited four LAM Clinics in China and discussed the future of global LAM care and research.
- Conferences: The Foundation hosted two LAMposiums: The International Research Conference on TSC and LAM in June in Washington, D.C., and The Patient Benefit Conference in November in Los Angeles. Combined, these two events reached over 550 attendees and raised $434,000 for LAM research.
We are grateful for your support throughout the year and we ask that you consider making a special year end gift to the annual fund. Your generous support powers a truly remarkable organization that delivers real results year after year. Please give today.
This has been a highly successful year for The LAM Foundation, and with your continued support, we look forward to building upon our achievements.
