Treatment Trial for women with LAM is now open!
The MILES (Multicenter International Lymphangioleiomyomatosis Efficacy of Sirolimus) Treatment Trial is open for enrollment!  Conducted through the Rare Lung Diseases Consortium - a network of Universities funded by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) to perform cooperative trials. This trial will test the efficacy of an FDA-approved drug called sirolimus (rapamycin) in patients with lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM).  Click here for details

LAM Foundation Scientist Elizabeth Henske Receives Medtronic Prize
Dr. Elizabeth Henske was awarded the Medtronic Prize from the Society for Women's Health Research in Washington, D.C.  The $75,000 Prize is awarded to an outstanding scientist or engineer who has received national recognition and whose work has led or will lead directly to the improvement of women's health.  Click here for more info

LAM Foundation's Founder Honored by American Thoracic Society
Sue Byrnes, Founder of The LAM Foundation, recently received the American Thoracic Society Public Service Award at the American Thoracic Society 2007 International Conference for her outstanding contributions in the public health arena related to respiratory disease and medicine, and for her significant life-long contributions to the field.  Click here for more info

Dr. Frank McCormack, The LAM Foundation's Scientific Director, was honored by the Cincinnati Business Courier for his contributions to patient care, research, management and community service.  Chosen from more than 300 nominees, Dr. McCormack was the recipient of the Innovator Award.  Click here for more info

Tickets being sold for $10 before the day of the event. The $10 goes directly to LAM while the ticket gets you 15%-20% off almost everything in any of the four Chicago area stores. For every person that goes in with a ticket that day, Bloomingdales will give another $5 to LAM. If 75 people make it to the stores, LAM will receive a portion of the general tickets sold!

Along the lakefront in Chicago at Montrose Harbor or in Palatine at Deer Grove Forest Preserve
Registration begins at 8:30am
The walk (either 1 or 3 miles) will kick-off at 10:00am
After the walk, please join us for the Family Fun Fest and picnic!
The proceeds of the Hike help support The LAM Foundation and other charity partners of the Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago (RHAMC) in our efforts to fight LAM, asthma, lung cancer, COPD, sarcoidosis, pulmonary fibrosis, ARDS, and other lung diseases, and to promote clean air.

You may register for the Hike for Lung Health by joining our existing team, Hiking for LAM. There is a $10 registration fee for each walker. Each participant will receive a Hike for Lung Health t-shirt, a participant goody bag and are encouraged to take advantage of the family fun fest activities.
